Woman medevaced to Oahu with serious injuries after Kauai crash

KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police arrested a man following a crash in Waipouli that left a woman with serious injuries Friday night.
According to the Kauai Police Department, the crash on Kuhio Highway happened just after 9 p.m. They said a Toyota Corolla was heading south bound when the driver, identified as 26-year-old Jared Weinstock, attempted to make a left turn onto Papaloa Road.
Weinstock collided into an oncoming Toyota pickup truck driven by a 56-year-old Kapaa man. The driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, but his passenger, a 53-year-old Kapaa woman, was listed in serious condition.
She was medevaced to the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu where she remained Saturday.
Police closed down the road and detoured traffic for several hours to investigate.
Officers arrested Weinstock on suspicion of negligent injury. He has since been released pending further investigation.
All lanes were reopened before 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
