MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A surfer in his 50s died in Maui waters over the weekend.
According to the Maui Fire Department, the man was pulled unresponsive from the water at Honolua Bay by fellow surfers around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities say fire and medic crews performed CPR before rushing him to a hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.
The man’s identity has not been released. Officials said surf in the area was large at the time.
Officials said the man is a local Maui resident.
