HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A rescue group is trying to find homes for 2,600 cows currently housed at Big Island Dairy.

The Ookala facility announced it would shutter services next month.

Some 55 cows need to be adopted by Monday.

If they don’t find a home, the Hawaii Lava Flow Animal Rescue Network says they’ll likely be resold or slaughtered.
