KANEOHE (HawaiiNewsNow) - She may not know it, but 8-week-old Paisleigh Edwards met a very special person on New Year’s Eve: Former President Barack Obama.
“We didn’t expect him to come over, but he said, ‘hold on guys, let me put my bag up,’” said Paisleigh’s father Joseph Edwards.
After a round of golf at the Kaneohe Klipper golf course on the Marine Corps Base, Obama walked over to the newborn’s family and asked to hold her, eventually giving her a kiss on her forehead.
“Just him let alone holding her and telling her she’s beautiful and kissing her on the forehead is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Paisleigh’s mother Chelcie Edwards.
Being a father of two girls himself, Obama then jokingly said, “You can’t beat daughters. Daughters are the best.”
Obama thanked the parents and even mentioned to Paisleigh’s father that he looked like a “good dad.”
It was “a remarkable moment,” Joseph Edwards said, “and something we’ll never forget.”
