Former Maui tax preparer arrested on suspicion of tax fraud

LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A former tax preparer was arrested on Maui on suspicion of 26 counts of tax fraud.

The state accuses Nicole Rapoza of preparing false tax returns in 2014.

Officials said Rapoza was previously convicted in 2016 for filing fraudulent tax returns in 2012 and 2013.

Rapoza faces up to three years in prison and $100,000 in fines for each count.
