HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Mostly dry conditions along with light trades will prevail across the state through the upcoming weekend. Showers will favor windward areas, except through the afternoon hours across leeward locations where clouds and a few showers associate with sea breezes will be possible. Rainfall accumulations, however, will remain limited with the dry air in place. Southerly winds along with increasing rain chances will be possible through the midweek period next week as a front approaches the area.

The current north northeast swell will peak this evening, then decline Thursday and Friday. A new large northwest swell will spread across the waters adjacent to the western end of the island chain late Friday night. This swell will likely increase seas above the SCA threshold across exposed waters from Saturday into early next week. Surf is also expected to exceed High Surf Warning levels along most north and west facing shores of the smaller islands this weekend, and advisory levels into early next week.
