HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - One of the country’s most well-known budget carriers is hoping to beat Southwest Airlines to the Bay Area punch.
Sun Country Airlines, a budget carrier headquartered in Minnesota, has announced plans to begin flying between the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport and San Francisco. The airline already flies to Honolulu between Los Angeles and Portland.
Flights will begin on May 18, the airline says, and fares begin at $259 each way. The carrier plans on offering flights on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and could add a fourth day sometime this summer.
The airline tells the San Francisco Chronicle that they plan on using Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the new San Francisco-to-Honolulu routes.
