HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior volleyball team started its 2019 campaign on the right foot with an impressive three-set sweep (25-17, 25-17, 25-19) over British Columbia Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Hawaii took down the defending Canadian national champions hitting .291 for the match, including six aces. Outside hitter Colton Cowell finished with a team-high 10 kills while Stijn van Tilburg tallied nine of his own.
Middle blockers Dalton Solbrig (6) and Patrick Gasman (5) combined for 11 kills and setter Joe Worsley recorded a double-double with 25 assists and a match-high 14 digs.
The Warriors will host UBC again Saturday night in the second game of their two-game series. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
