Woman arrested after fatal Christmas Day hit-and-run on Maui

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui police have arrested a 55-year-old Wailuku woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Christmas Day.
Police said the woman turned herself into police after her vehicle, a green Geo Tracker, was seized.
The crash happened about 6:25 p.m., when a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound. Police said the motorcycle struck a rock in the roadway and the motorcycle’s passenger,fell off.
A vehicle then struck the victim in the road, and failed to stop to render aid.
The woman who died was identified as Stacy Jackson, of Kihei.
The operator of the motorcycle, a 50-year-old Kihei man, was not injured.
Police said Jackson and the motorcycle’s operator were not wearing helmets. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the traffic fatality is the 18th on Maui so far this year, compared to 17 at the same time in 2017.
