HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Authorities have identified the 27-year-old hiker who died Monday when he fell about 100 feet at Manoa Falls Trail.

The Medical Examiner’s Office said the hiker was Kyle David Manor, of Honolulu. His official cause of death has not yet been released.

The incident happened about 8:30 a.m., and EMS officials said the man suffered an apparent head wound.

Honolulu firefighters along with EMS crews, staged a landing zone at Manoa District Park.

“It appears as if he was hiking alone,” said Fire Battalion Chief Alan Carvalho.

He added that it wasn’t immediately clear how he fell, but he urged hikers to take safety precautions.

“We want people to always be cognizant of where they’re going,” he said. “Know about the trails and the hazards and stay on the main trails.”

Manor was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
