A cold front is approaching, threatening to drop heavy rain tonight through Friday before leaving Saturday. The front is northwest of Kauai, but prefrontal showers are popping up with brief heavy downpours. The brunt of the rain is due Friday.
Winds are light southwest, shifting to northeasterlies by Sunday.
HIGH SURF WARNING for most northwest shores goes into effect 10am Friday morning. A large northwest swell is due in the afternoon with life-threatening conditions through Saturday.
