WAIKIKI (KHNL) - The grand re-opening of the Pink Palace of the Pacific was a major affair Saturday night. Let's take a look at the new and improved Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

The theme of the night: pink is the new fabulous. And no expense was spared in getting that point across. One thousand elite guests came out to see what changes the hotel made during its seven month renovation.

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel spared no expense. The renovation was $60 million. And the grand opening night? Nearly half a million dollars.

The skies may have been cloudy that night, but the stars were out. Among them, NFL football players Chris Kemoeatu, line guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers; Hawaii's American Idol Jasmine Trias; Hawaii's 'Bachelor,' Lt. Andy Baldwin; and KSSK radio host Michael W. Perry. "What a spectacular event! This is the party of the decade, for sure," Perry enthused.

Hollywood also made a stop in Hawaii. Movie actress Heather Graham and her boyfriend Yaniv Raz made a first trip to Oahu. Graham was tired from having just flown into Honolulu that evening, but gracious towards the media. "Hawaii has the most amazing people. Everyone who lives here is so nice. Nicer than people anywhere!"

Actor Justin Long, also known as the Mac computer guy, is here in the Islands for his first time. "Friendly people, great beaches, lush, tropical," he smiled.

He plans to hit the waves outside the hotel Sunday- and was quite funny about it, quipping, "I have a new hobby! Listen up, America!" Long was charming and down to earth with the reporters.

This event was also fundraiser for the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific Foundation.
