HONOLULU (KHNL) - Four teams advance while four teams fall in the 2009 Hawaii High School Athletic Association Boys State Basketball Championships.

The most exciting game of the night was between 2nd seed Kahuku and defending state champion Punahou.

It was a defensive battle with teams trading buckets all the way into the 4th quarter. However, the Red Raiders were able to take the lead for good with five minutes remaining thanks to back to back three pointers by Nehoa Akina and Jray Galeai, as Kahuku toppled Punahou by a final score of 40-39.

The other three quarterfinal matchups ended without the drama. Top ranked Kamehameha-Kapalama blew out Kalaheo 67-36. Iolani took down third seed Waiakea 58-40 and Kaimuki beat Baldwin 64-51.

Friday's semifinal will see Kamehameha take on Kaimuki at 5pm. At 7pm, Kahuku and Iolani will take the floor. All games will take place at the Neal Blaisdell Arena. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday.
