SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (KHNL) - Thursday night about 600 soldiers returned home from the Middle East. Balloons, colorful signs, music were all the ingredients for a happy homecoming.

The only thing missing; is the main ingredient: the Second Stryker Brigade Combat Team these crowds haven't seen for 15 long months.

Marching to the song from the movie "Rocky" the heroes, come home.

First, a short prayer is said for their safe return and the soldiers are free-game.

With baby in arms, Teresa Pierce fights the crowd to find her husband.

"It feels great to be home," said Dustin Pierce. Looking at his little girl he said, "she is definitely a lot bigger and smarter."

The hugs, smiles and leis erase the months of worries for loved ones on a dangerous deployment.

"15 months in Iraq north of Baghdad, northwest of Baghdad operating on 1300 square miles of terrain providing security and stability working with Iraqi security forces," said Colonel Todd McCaffrey.

The only mission before these soldiers now; enjoy their down time relaxing at home with family.

Four bronze star medals were also handed out along with 15 army commendation medals and 35 purple hearts.
