#1 Punahou,#2 Konawaena to play for State Championship

HONOLULU (KHNL) - It'll be number one against number two when the girls division one state basketball championship tips off on Friday night.

Punahou defeated #4 Lahainalua 42-37 in the first semifinal of the day.  Senior point guard Janelle Nomura led all scorers with 18 points on 4-15 shooting.

In the 2nd semifinal, Emalia Galdeira paced Konawaena with 18 points and 5 steals against third ranked Farrington.

The Wildcats got the best of the Governors 51-43 and will now face Punahou at 7pm Friday night at the Blaisdell Arena.

The Wildcats and the Buffanblu have won the last six state titles, with Punahou winning in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2008.  Konawaena won in 2004 and 2007.
