HONOLULU (KHNL) - A Leilehua High School football standout, accused of sexually assaulting his estranged girlfriend, says he's not guilty.

Rico Newman, 18, appeared before a Circuit Court judge and entered his not guilty plea Tuesday morning. Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted him on sex assault and kidnapping charges.

Before his arrest, the running back for the Mules reportedly had a scholarship offer from a college in Montana.

His trial is tentatively set for April.
