Kahuku (KHNL) - It was her 49th start on the LPGA tour, but Honolulu native Michelle Wie is technically a rookie on the tour. But after earning her first LPGA tour card of her professional career, Wie made sure she let everyone know she's here to stay.

At the season opening SBS Open at Turtle Bay on Thursday, Wie opened up with a 6-under 66, putting her in a tie for 2nd place.

On the her front nine, she shot a 33, carding four birdies and a bogey. Same thing on the back nine, but this time she ended with a birdie on 16, 17, and 18.

"I just felt relaxed playing in front of the home crowd, a lot of family and friends came out so it was just a lot of fun today. I think the winds will keep blowing so I'm just going to keep playing patiently and keep making putts. I think I proved a lot to myself earning it the hard way but this week is going to be a pretty tough week," said Wie.

Michelle tees off bright and early Friday morning at 7:20am from the 10th tee.
