HONOLULU (KHNL) - For years he's been traveling the universe, battling the dark side and keeping peace in the galaxy. But lately, he's been taking time off to travel planet Earth. And he's even managed to make a stop here, in the Aloha State.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away a world traveler was born. Meet Master Yoda.

Four years ago, he left his home of Dagobah for the town of Santa Cruz, California. That's where friends Kim Leigh and Rachel Williams teamed up for Master Yoda's World Tour.

"The initial idea was the owner, Kim, wanted to get Master Yoda to meet Ewan McGregor, the actor who played young Obi Wan in the prequel Star Wars movies," said Jason Tayros, Honolulu's Master Yoda host. " But out of that grew the idea to send him all over the world."

And all over the world he has been.

"He's been going through Europe, parts of Asia, he's gone to Australia and New Zealand," said Jason.

"..then he came to us."

Honolulu is the first stop of his American tour.

"I took him to Diamond Head; we went on a hike to Diamond Head. I took him to the beach with his own surfboard. I took him to see hula girls. He and I just went to get Hawaiian food the other day," said Jason.

He's even managed to find his way to our KHNL News 8 studio to make a few friends.

But all good things must come to an end, and Master Yoda needs to move on with his world tour.

"I hope he had a good time here. I'll be sad to see him go," said Jason.

Next he heads to California, then through the rest of the U.S. So the next time you see him, be sure to stop and smile. And remember, may the force be with you.
