KALIHI (KHNL) - A woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed in the middle of the day at a Kalihi park. Now, police need your help in solving the case.

The victim and another person who was at the park at the time each sat down with a police sketch artist following the violent attack. On Thursday, investigators released the two drawings and a detailed description.

Kids enjoy a game of basketball at Lanakila District Park. Nearby, there's a restroom where a brutal assault took place.

"This is a public park, a district park, right in Lanakila so, yeah, it's a concern to us," Sgt. Kim Buffett, Crimestoppers, said. "And we are out there looking and canvassing the area."

A woman told police a man followed her into the restroom, raped her in one of the stalls, and stole her purse. It reportedly happened at 12:45 in the afternoon, January 14th.

"She received a large gash to her forehead, which required stitches," Buffett said. "She was pretty much pushed around in that stall."

Police say the victim stumbled out of the restroom, bleeding from her head, and asked a bystander for help. That witness also sat down with a police sketch artist.

Investigators say the suspect has some distinguishing features.

"He does have dry, peeling skin between the eyes and on his neck area," Buffett said. "He has tattoos of tribal bands on his, both arms, and some kind of words or names on his lower leg."

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s, and is about 5'8" tall.
