HONOLULU (KHNL) - A man accused of killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Windward Oahu last year will not fight the charges.

On Tuesday, Thomas Copeland went before a Circuit Court judge and pleaded no contest to first-degree negligent homicide.

A 69-year-old woman was crossing Kailua Road to get to a bus stop when a car slammed into her. She died at a nearby hospital.

Prosecutors say Copeland, who was behind the wheel, already had a DUI on his record.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when he's sentenced in April.
