HONOLULU (KHNL) - An Oahu grand jury on Thursday indicted a man accused of siccing his dog on a Honolulu police officer.

Detective Gary Lahens was at Circuit Court to testify at the closed-door proceedings Thursday morning. He's recovering from a dog bite to his stomach.

Joseph Flaherty was indicted on several counts, including assault on a law enforcement officer, terroristic threatening, and criminal property damage.

The 32-year-old is accused of picking up a shopping cart in a Kapahulu parking lot and threatening to throw it at the detective. Witnesses say the detective shot the suspect's dog after it attacked him.
