MANOA (KHNL) - Their warm up tournament is done, and now it's time to take care of business. Thursday is the opening Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match for the Warrior volleyball team.

After playing three of the top ten programs in the nation at last week's Outrigger Invitational, Hawaii welcomes in reigning league champion, and 3rd ranked Pepperdine, and for UH you don't need to remind them why league play is so important.

"Every match is important, you never know which loss can affect you from getting a high seed in the playoffs or a low seed and a high seed and home court advantage is pretty important when you play in a league like this," said outsider hitter Joshua Walker.

"Every match in our conference is tough, so here we go MPSF. Pepperdine, a perennial powerhouse in our conference, so we're looking forward to hosting the Waves," added head coach Mike Wilton.

In head to head matchups, the Waves have the upper hand winning 34 of 55 meetings.

Thursday's match begins at 7:00 PM and can be seen on our sister station, K5 The Home Team.
