KAPALUA, Maui (KHNL) - Geoff Ogilvy is playing some of his best golf right now and he proved it, after winning the Mercedes Benz Invitational in Maui.
It was the fifth PGA Tour victory for Ogilvy, who won the U.S. Open title in 2006 and a pair of World Golf Championships. He shot a final round, 68 and finished at 24-under, 268, earning over one million dollars for the victory and moving up to Number 6 in the world ranking.
Anthony Kim finished tied for 2nd, with Davis Love III. Kim pulled within a stroke of Ogilvy for the lead, after 8 holes, but couldn't keep the momentum and finished with a final round, 67.
Sean O'Hair and Justin Leonard round out the top 5. Oahu native, Parker McLachlin shot a final round, 71 and finished 6-under for the tournament. McLachlin collects 64-thousand dollars, as he finished tied for 24th.
The next stop for the PGA Tour is the Sony Open on Oahu, with the opening round on Thursday.
