HONOLULU (KHNL) - Lifeguards rescued a surfer on the north shore Tuesday morning.
It happened at about 11:30 a.m. at Ehukai Beach Park.
The man, in his 20's, wiped out on a large wave and impacted the reefs.
Lifeguards were able to rescue the surfer and bring him to shore. Paramedics treated and transported the man to the hospital in stable condition.
Officials say the large northwest swell will decline late Tuesday night and Wednesday, and surf will briefly drop below advisory levels late Wednesday.
Another large west-northwest swell will build on Thursday and will produce surf near warning levels across north and west facing shores Thursday night and Friday.
The Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services Division encourages people to always swim at a guarded beach and consult a lifeguard about ocean conditions before going into the water.
