Black Friday is busy day for plumbers

KAILUA (KHNL) - Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year, but for some Oahu workers, this day has a whole different meaning.

Friday is a plumber's busiest day of the year. Some people spend the day after Thanksgiving shopping but for plumbers, Thanksgiving weekend is anything but a holiday.

"It didn't happen yesterday, I mean that would have been too much to handle that as well yesterday," homeowner Keith Patterson said.

"I found the bathtub was clogged and there was little lovely things floating around," plumber Daniel Heath said.

Daniel uses 60 feet of cable to clear the clogged pipe. Holiday guests require extra showers and wash cycles and a mess can result.

"Christmas, New Years, it's really busy," Heath said.

"I was talking to them and they were saying plumbers have a Black Friday as well as the stores but I didn't realize that but I thought it would be a reasonably busy day after a holiday when you've been doing stuff like a lot of washing or putting greasy food down," Patterson said.

"Do not put a bunch of carrots down your line or potato peels," Heath said. "Do not put cooking oil down your line either because it will cause a clog later on."

By following those holiday tips you could avoid a mess.
