HONOLULU (KHNL) - The Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program in Hawaii has partnered with the Dixie Grill and Mobi PCS in an effort to collect toys for less fortunate children.

Residents can drop off their toy donations at the Dixie Grill in Aiea on Kamehameha Highway. The restaurant's drop-off box will be accessible Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sundays form 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Mobi PCS has placed toy donation boxes at seven stores here on Oahu, including Pearlridge Center, Windward City Shopping Center, Kapolei Ace Center, Mililani Town Center, Salt Lake Shopping Center, the Avenue Shops at Safeway Center on Kapahulu Avenue and at 1467 South King Street.

They'll also be collecting toys at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo and inside Kona Coast Shopping Center's KTA Super Store on the Big Island.

Mobi PCS has also donated Global Positioning System devices and cellular phones with unlimited voice and text service to the Toys for Tots program here to aid in this year's toy collection drive.

Since 1996, Hawaii Marines have collected nearly 600,000 toys and nearly $340,000 to purchase toys for more than 370,000 less fortunate keiki.

Every toy and every dollar collected to purchase toys stays in Hawaii.

This year's goal is to collect 40,000 toys.
