Pflueger surrenders to face dam death charges

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Former car dealer Jimmy Pflueger surrendered to authorities Monday in connection with the deadly Ka Loko Dam break on Kauai.

The raging waters from the dam breach in March of 2006 killed seven people.

Pflueger, the Ka Loko landowner, denies that he is at fault for the incident.

But a grand jury indicted him last Friday for manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

Pflueger was accompanied by Duane "Dog" Chapman when he turned himself in at Halawa Correctional Facility.

A spokeswoman for Chapman says he and Pflueger are "very good friends."

She confirmed that chapman put up $71,000 in bail money for Pflueger's release.
