Coast Guard crew members to conduct aids to navigation work in American Samoa

ABOARD U.S. COAST GUARD CUTTER WALNUT (KHNL) - The Hawaii-based U.S. Coast Guard is scheduled to begin routine maintenance to aids to navigation in American Samao Tuesday.

Crews of the Cutter Walnut will work on the islands of Tau and Ofu and will provide annual maintenance to fixed and floating aids in the port of Pago Pago and the island of Tututila.

The 225-foot buoy uses shore parties, small boats and a small dive team to service aids.

Crewmembers repair and position aids to ensure safe navigation for all vessels in American Samoa.
