HONOLULU (KHNL) - As the economy continues to spiral downward, many families here in the islands are toughing it out. One man wants to help make a difference, and he's hoping to do it through his camera lens.

For 30 years, Stan Cox has captured the aloha spirit of many families here in the islands.

"I just love it here, I love the people and this what I do," said Cox.

And what he does best, he hopes to share with the community.

Now that the economy has taken a turn for the worst, Stan wants to help bring some joy to one family, by presenting them with a free art creation.

"Businesses have been closing, businesses have been down turning, people have been getting their hours cut, their salaries cut, it's a time that we all need to get through."

As many families struggle during these hard economic times, life isn't always picture perfect, that's why Stan is hoping to give one family a gift they deserve.

So what defines a deserving family?

"A family that has a lot of love for themselves for each other and their family and for the community, community minded and a good example and would love to have a family portrait but under the current financial conditions can't afford."

The photograph will be made to look like a painting on a 24 by 30 canvas. The finished product, a framed masterpiece portrait, worth $2,000.

And it will, no doubt, be cherished by the family, for generations to come.

If you think your family is deserving, or you know a family who deserves a masterpiece portrait, click on the Paramount Photography link on this page for details.

The deadline to enter is December 15.
