HONOLULU (KHNL) - Matson is lowering its fuel surcharge for the fourth consecutive time in six weeks.
Starting November 2, the company will decrease fuel surcharge prices by 2 percentage points for its Hawaii service, from 27 to 25 percent and to 26.5 percent for its Guam/Micronesia service.
The company says the decrease is the result of continuing declines in fuel prices.
"Following an extended period in which oil costs hit historical record highs, it is encouraging to see this downward trend continue to be reflected in the prices the company is now paying for bunker fuel," said Dave Hoppes, senior vice president, ocean services.
Matson's last adjustment to its fuel surcharge was a decrease of 6 percentage points on October 19.
