HONOLULU (KHNL) - The Medical Examiner has identified the stabbing victim in the Pearl City home invasion robbery on Monday as 29-year-old Brendan Caires.

Officials say the cause of death is from a lung injury from a stab wound to the chest.

Honolulu police are still searching for two men who broke into the home on Noelani Street.

Police say one of them fatally stabbed Caires.

The other suspect hit the victim's girlfriend with a butt of a gun.

"Not really sure what the motive is but we do want to let the public know that this is not the typical - we do not believe that this was a typical home invasion type thing," said Major Frank Fujii of the Honolulu Police Department. "We believe there may be an association between the victims and the suspects - not random."

Police say the two male suspects are in their early 20's.

One is 5,10 to 6'0, between 140 to 160 pounds.  The other is 5'10, 160 pounds.

They were wearing all black and had masks.
