Motorcyclist injured in Halfway Bridge accident

LIHUE, Kauai (KHNL) -  A 37-year-old Lihue man is in fair condition following a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon near Halfway Bridge.

Kyle Masuda was heading west on a motorcycle on Kaumuali‘i Highway approaching Halfway Bridge at around 1:20 pm.

Masuda jammed on his front brakes when the pick-up truck in front of him suddenly slowed in heavy traffic, causing the motorcycle and Masuda to flip over and land on the highway.

He was wearing a helmet.  The extent of his injuries is not known.

Police believe that speed may have been a factor in this accident.

Traffic was tied up in both directions on Kaumuali‘i Highway for about an hour following the accident.
