Local dentist pays cash for extra Halloween candies

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A local dentist is once again preventing kids from getting cavities while helping our troops overseas.

Dr. Wilfred Miyasaki is giving away dollars in exchange for candy during his annual "Halloween Candy Buy-Back" event.

Kids can bring their excess candy to Dr. Wilfred and receive $1 for every pound they sell.

All candies collected will then be sent to U.S. troops overseas, along with a lot of tooth brushes.

"Halloween should be about having fun and we want kids to enjoy themselves," said Dr. Miyasaki.  "Kids can have the fun of trick-or-treating, enjoy some candy and still provide a much-appreciated treat for our troops."

The candy buy-back will take place at Dr. Miyasaki's office at 1139 Bethel Street in downtown Honolulu on Saturday, November 1 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The office is on the ground floor across from the Hawaii Theater Concert Hall.
