Mouse House

Nice to see that in the midst of the tough economic times that someone is thinking long term.  Disney's plans to move ahead with a hotel and time share concept out at Ko Olina will provide a new destination for visitors to ponder as they think of Hawaii, and will also provide about a thousand new jobs.  And that's when the resort opens, but there will be plenty of construction work in the next few months.

This will certainly not be a Mickey Mouse operation, with the Disney touch added to the local touches of culture, history, plants, etc.  It's yet another Disney experience, right here in our own backyard, and it's not a fairy tale, it's actually going to be built.  Too often we hear of projects that then seem to take forever to get going- like a West Oahu campus or rapid transit, or projects that take forever to get completed- like the elevated highway by the airport or the roadwork on Kapiolani, Nimitz, in Kailua, well, just about everywhere.

Most of us know from experience that Disney does things right- yes, they are certainly not goofy, pardon the pun, so this 830 total-units resort with a family emphasis should be a nice addition to the growing number of projects planned on the leeward side.  And this one is actually going to become a reality soon, Tinker Bell.  Think about it...
