Moped driver dies following crash

MANOA (KHNL) - A moped driver is dead after crashing near the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.

According to police, it happened shortly before 3:30 Tuesday morning, at the intersection of Dole and Kanewai Streets.

Paramedics rushed the 22-year-old male victim to the Queen's Medical Center where he later died.

Police say the victim was not wearing a helmet.

No other vehicles are believed to be involved.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but speed is believed to be a factor.
