Man involved in Kauai shooting arrested for second-degree murder

KAPAHI, Kauai (KHNL) - A 22-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a 43-year-old man in Kapahi Saturday was arrested for second-degree murder, but has not been charged.

Police say Payton Rapozo of Wailua shot Antonio Torres after an argument shortly before 3:00 p.m. at Torres' house.

Rapozo was subdued by relatives until police arrived.

Police say the victim is the boyfriend of Rapozo's mother.

The weapon used was a 22 caliber revolver pistol.   Police are not sure who the gun belongs to.

Rapozo was arrested in January 2007 for attempted murder on a police officer.

The suspect is currently being held at a police cellblock.
