HONOLULU (AP) - The Hawaii Tourism Authority's board of directors today named Lloyd Unebasami as the agency's interim president and CEO as it launched a search for a permanent leader.

The 59-year-old Unebasami succeeds Rex Johnson, who resigned after coming under fire for forwarding racist, sexist and pornographic e-mails.

Unebasami has served as HTA's chief administrative officer since 2000 and has held several other positions with the state.

HTA Chairman Kelvin Bloom says with Unebasami at the helm, "the board can focus on the important task of finding a permanent replacement to help Hawaii through the challenging times ahead.
