HILO, Big Island (KHNL) - Families from ten homes on the Big Island have been evacuated after police, serving a search warrant at a home in the Kau District, discovered explosives.
Police found what appeared to be an explosive device at a home on King Kamehameha Blvd. and immediately evacuated the area.
Two men and a woman, who live at the home, were arrested.
King Kamehameha is closed until an explosive team from the U.S. Army stationed at Schofield Barracks determines it is safe.
The American Red Cross has opened a shelter at the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Community Center for evacuated residents.
A police investigation on the Big Island on Wednesday morning has shut down a portion of Highway 11 in the Mountain View area.More >>
