One week remaining to file for stimulus check

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KHNL) - The IRS reports that more one-third of Americans still have not file for their stimulus checks.

With just one week remaining, U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka is urging veterans, seniors and others who still have not claimed their checks to file.

Because many Americans receiving veterans' benefits or Social Security income are not required to regularly file taxes, some still have not filed the paperwork necessary to receive their stimulus check this year.

Senator Akaka says they must do so now to receive their check because after October 15, the deadline to file, the benefit will be gone forever.

Individuals can be eligible for $300, married couples $600.
