City tests Outdoor Siren Warning System

HONOLULU (KHNL) - If you heard a loud siren Wednesday morning, don't be alarmed.  It was only a test.

The City's Department of Emergency Management and Hawaii State Civil Defense conducted the Outdoor Siren Warning System and Live Audio Broadcast.

A 45-second steady tone was tested at 11:45 AM.

During an actual emergency, these broadcasts will be heard at frequent intervals and may become continuous.

Residents are urged to turn to any radio or television station for information and instructions if a real emergency does occur.
