HONOLULU (KHNL) - Even in tough economic times, Hawaii residents prove they still possess the spirit of giving.

For three days and two nights, law enforcement officers lived above Safeway stores across the state and collected donations for Special Olympics Hawaii. Officials say they're still finalizing the numbers, but they estimate Cop on Top raised about $225,000.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities.
