HONOLULU (AP) - State Sen. Ron Menor is out of office, losing his Demoratic primary race after being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Michelle Kidani, active in Mililani neighborhood affairs, beat Menor in Saturday's primary election.

Kidani will become a state senator because she faces no opposition in the November general election.

Menor had been a senator since 2000. He helped enacted gas price controls in 2005, but they were repealed after only a few months.

Menor pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges and served a two-day sentence.

Prosecutors said Menor had a blood-alcohol level at 0.147, well above the legal limit of 0.08, when he was arrested April 27.
