MANOA (KHNL) - Jazz lovers are in for a treat when the first Manoa Jazz Festival comes to Hawaii.

The event will feature a world-class line-up of artists, including Hawaii's favorites Noel Okimoto 'Ohana and Honolulu Jazz Quartet.

The evening's headliner is saxophonist Devin Phillips and his band, New Orleans Straight Ahead.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Phillips formed New Orleans Straight Ahead in 2005, but Hurricane Katrina forced them to disband.  Left with nothing but his sax, he evacuated to Portland, Oregon.  There, he reformed his band with other musician evacuees.

They bring the traditions of their hometown, intricate and rhythmic innovations to Hawaii on Saturday, September 27 at Andrews Amphitheatre from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Concert goers are welcome to bring their own chairs, mats, coolers and picnics, but no alcoholic beverages or glass containers.

Tickets are $15 to $25 in advance, and $20 to $30 at the door.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 483-7123 or online by clicking on the Eticket Hawaii link.
