Suspect in shooting that left boy paralyzed appears in court

HONOLULU (KHNL) - A young man accused in a freeway shooting that left an Aiea boy paralyzed made his initial court appearance in the case Monday.

Joshua Gonda, 19, is charged with attempted murder and firearms offenses. His bail is set at $200,000.

The 16-year-old victim was in a car headed west on Moanalua Freeway July 9th, when a passenger in another car opened fire. Police say the boy is paralyzed from the chest down.

The suspect's preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
