ST. PAUL, Minnesota (KHNL) - A familiar face with a Hawaii tie made an appearance at the Republican National Convention Thursday night.
Gold medalist Bryan Clay shared his views on athletics and politics.
"Now the big difference between the decathlon and politics is that when my race ends I go back home, relax and start training for the next Olympics," said Clay. "But when the election ends, that's where the real work begins. Now whether your platform is a classroom, a conference room, a track or the White House we must all stay true to our principles, whether you're a decathlete or a politician we must stand together and believe in each other and this great nation."
Clay won the gold medal in the decathlon at this year's summer Olympic games in Beijing.
