DENVER, Colorado (KHNL) - Hawaii congresswoman Mazie Hirono is participating in all of the excitement at the convention. She spent the day visiting with delegates from across the country - even Guam - who made the trip to Denver.
Part of the convention experience is exchanging buttons and pins and that's exactly what Hirono did.
Later, she joined the thousands of attendees inside the Pepsi Center to hear Michelle Obama's speech.
"She comes from humble beginnings. Working class family and so does Barack Obama with a single mother so she emphasized that and how in this country with hope and hard work, things are possible," said Hirono. "So she really left me with a sense, such a positive feeling and it was also quite emotional, I think there were a lot of people who certainly had tears in their eyes."
