KIHEI, Maui (KHNL) - Maui keiki just got a little happier when the newly Kalama Park playground reopened Thursday.

The new $417,872 playground includes several climbers, a challenge bridge, double slides and a lily pad bridge for children ages 2-5; and a track ride, several slides and a climbing wall for older children ages 5-12.

Dale Wilson, 11 and Lia King, 9 tackle the climbing wall on the older kids' play structure.

"We're so excited to have somewhere to play again!" said Dale's mom, Lori.  "We come here nearly every day and since we have six kids with another on the way, this is so great for our family.  It's awesome that the County replaced the play equipment so quickly."

The park was damaged in a fire in January.
