HONOLULU (KHNL) - Thousands of new cases of cancer are diagnosed every year in Hawaii. But what happens to the cancer survivors after their surgery and treatment? That's where the Ho'ola Cancer Exercise Wellness Program comes in. It's helped nearly 100 people since 2005.

This isn't just any trainer and client working together. Honolulu Club trainer Brad Kryzkowski works with cancer patients in a free 10-week exercise program. It's to help their recovery and quality of life. "We see usually quite a drastic change from beginning to end. Most of the time they come in with a low functional capacity. By the end just getting up and doing a consistent exercise program for the 10 weeks we have in the class - we see quite a change in that amount of time," said Kryzkowski.

The class meets twice a week at the Honolulu Club. It's free, but you have to apply. Get more information and an application at www.cancerexercisewellness.org

The next program starts August 12, 2008 at the Honolulu Club. It's Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 - 11 a.m. Call the Honolulu Club trainers' office at 543-3980 for details.
