HONOLULU (KHNL) - The Gas Company filed an application Monday to request an increase in utility gas rates on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island.
Citing infrastructure investments and higher costs as reasons, the Company is seeking an increase of 8.4%, or about $10.62 a month.
This is the company's first request for a rate increase in eight years.
If approved, the new rates will affect 35,000 customers. The new rates would not appear on customers' bills until mid-2009.
