Big Island shoppers enjoy unique health fair

HILO, Big Island (KHNL) - Shoppers at Prince Kuhio Plaza enjoyed some extra fun at a unique health fair over the weekend.

The health fair was part of Hawaii Medical Service Association's eat healthy campaign that encourages people to eat smart, eat healthy and enjoy.

The fair featured cooking demonstrations, free blood sugar screenings and neck exams.

The center court area came alive with demonstrations by the Big Island Martial Arts Academy, YWCA, and Donald "Spiderman" Thomas with his New Jump Swing Fitness program.

Shoppers also had a chance to spin the HMSA eat healthy prize wheel for a chance to answer healthy questions and win prizes.

In January 2008, HMSA launched its eat healthy campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of making smart eating choices.
